Thi question implies an impossibility, aka a pregnant gold fish. Like all cyprinids, the gold fish lays eggs, but when the gold fish is in that laying eggs stage, it is called a twit.
Kentrosaurus, which means spiked lizard, had plates and spines sticking out of its back. Instead of jaws, it had a spiky beak. Kentrosaurus grew up to 5 metres (16 feet) long and weighed about 2 tons, but its brain was as small as a walnut.
Select a tank of about 38 liters and fill it with unchlorinated water. Fill two 10 liters containers with water similar to that in your fish tank. Now move the fish to the first container using a net. Gradually add salt in the proper proportion to the water for 10 minutes. Then shift the fish to the next container and let it stay there for about 45 minutes. After 20 minutes add salt in the same proportion to the water in the container holding the fish. Now, move the fish to the hospital tank and change the water daily.Shift the fish to the main tank only after it recovers completely.
Have you ever caught your cat sleeping on the clothes you threw on a chair the night before, or maybe in your hamper? Well, cats seem to be fond of the smell of those they know well and that is why they love sleeping on a piece of clothing they find laying around the house. That is also why they like to sleep in bed on the same spot you were in before or on the chair you’ve just got up from. Yup, cats truly love the smell of their owners and that is why you might find them sleeping on your dirty laundry.
Watch this engineer’s guide to cats. Their likes, dislikes, habits and personalities from an engineer’s point of view. This is one of the best amateur videos I’ve seen in a long time. Enjoy!
Because snakes have a flexible lower jaw, they can open their mouths very wide and swallow prey that is wider than they are. Their skin also offers the needed elasticity for the prey to fit in. After a big meal, a snake moves very slowly, so that the prey can be digested. Digestion needs so much energy that some snakes, like the Mexican rattlesnake, increase their temperature by 14 °C (57 °F). Once digestion is complete, a snake excretes the hair and claws of its prey.Note: Snakes cannot digest plants.
Waterfowl have webbed feet that help them paddle. They have flat bills, and their feathers have a coating of oil that works like waterproofing. The feathers of waterfowl (especially ducks) are both soft and warm.Note: Many pillows, quilts and sleeping bags are stuffed with duck feathers because they are light as well as soft and they bring a lot of warmth.
A cat will rub her head or the side of her chin against your leg or any object, furniture, or wall to deposit her scent on them as part of her territorial marking. She uses her glands on her forehead and around his mouth and chin. These glands produce chemicals called pheromones, which she transfers by rubbing against objects. If you see a cat sniffing intensly then she is trying to determine if the scent was produce by another feline or animal and if she needs to watch out if that animal might still be around. So if she is marking her territory on your leg…does that mean she thinks she owns you?P.S. Sometimes they rub against something just to scratch the side of their chin or to groom or get rid of falling hair.
Loaches are timid fish that prefer coming out in the darkness of night. If you have an aquarium you can choose add them to it to liven it up as they have beautiful colors. You can use either floating plants or reduced lighting in aquariums to offer a favorable environment. They eat live and prepared foods and normally look for food at aquarium bottoms. Although their body length is around twelve inches in the wild, they grow to only six inches within aquariums.Few varieties of loaches like Botia helodes and Botia lohachata are very aggressive. It is best to keep these species alone in aquariums.
Scientists have discovered the remains of what is considered (at least for now) to be the largest meat-eating dinosaur to have ever roamed the Earth – mapusaurus. This dinosaur is believed to have been over 14 metres (46 feet) long.Note: The tyrannosaurus rex (aka T-Rex) and giganotosaurus, grew to a length of about 13 metres (43 feet).
The largest plant-eating dinosaur was the argentinosaurus. It was not only the largest plant-eating dinosaur, but probably the largestdinosaur to have ever roamed the Earth. This dinosaur (which was a sauropod) is believed to have grown to an incredible length of about 40 metres (130 feet). It might have weighed about 80–100 tons. As seen in the left hand side picture, it had a long neck and tail, and a small head.
Frogs have longer legs than most toads and that obviously helps them take longer leaps. In comparison toads hop around. A major noticeable difference between frogs and toads is that the hind feet of a frog are webbed, to help it swim. The ones of a toad are not because unlike most amphibians, toads like to live in dry places. Also when frogs eat, they close their eyes when they push the food down their throat and toads have dry, thick, warty skin. Don’t touch a toad.
The main thing to have it easier when cleaning the cage is to install a wire grill above the solid floor of the cage with a sliding tray between them to catch droppings, seed husks and anything else that drops down.Cover the tray with a piece of blank newsprint or paper towels and change them every day to minimize any chance of infection or other problems. I would recommend the newsprint because that always shows up unwanted at your door.Don’t forget to scrape the bottom and disinfect it each week. Do an extra clean at any time when there has been any spillage from the food or water containers.Clean the containers as often as necessary but at least weekly, with a weak bleach solution (look for it in pet shops). Do this in away from the bird (maybe even in another room) and dry everything very thoroughly before returning them to the cage or the bird may be badly affected by fumes or any damp residue.
Songbirds live an average of five years. They lay their first eggs when they are less than one year old. The eggs often hatch after just ten days (which is fast in comparison with the eggs of the albatross which take around eighty days). Because the eggs hatch so soon, the hatchlings are born blind and have no feathers.
The oldest known reptile was the hylonomus. It was around 25 centimeters (10 inches) long. Reptiles developed from amphibians and the first true reptiles had a solid skull with holes only for nose, eyes and a spinal cord. These early reptiles gave rise to another line called synapsids, which had another pair of holes in their skulls behind the eyes. Synapsids developed into mammals.
As you know, whales do not have gills like fish. In fact, because they are mammals, they take in air through nostrils. The nostrils of whales, called “blowholes”, are located on top of their heads. Every once in a while, whales come to the surface of the water and open their blowholes to breathe.
A fish in distress will itch and rub against the tank. If there is a parasite infection there will be sign of redness and swelling on the body (especially at the bottom of the dorsal fin). You might also notice that the fish has difficulty breathing and is generally inactive. However these are general symptoms of illness, so you need to take mucus and gill samples to detect the parasitic infection. There may be more than one type of parasite, and you need to identify the current stage in the life cycle of the parasite. Hence you need different treatments for an effective cure.Go read about “What types of parasites can attack the fish in your home aquarium?“.
The biggest monitor lizard in the world is the komodo dragon. It weighs about 135 kg (300 pounds). It’s quite a dangerous lizard. Its mouth is full of poisonous bacteria and when it bites, the bacteria poisons the blood of its prey, killing it.
Note: Apparently komodo dragons have even been known to eat small children. So…watch out!
There are two types of snake venom.
- + There is the neurotoxic venom produced by snakes such as cobras. This type of venom affects the nervous system, paralyzing the victim and leading to a quick death.+ Then there is the hemotoxic venom produced by snakes such as the viper. This one affects the blood and organs but does not kill immediately. As a result, doctors sometimes have a chance to treat the victim.
The largest penguin in the world is the emperor penguin. It is the tallest and the heaviest of all penguins. This species can grow to a maximum height of about 1.1 meters (3.7 feet) and can weigh about 41 kilograms (90 pounds). The smallest penguin is the fairy penguin which is barely 41 centimeters (16 inches) tall and weighs about 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds).
In case you did not know, cobras have short fangs. Unlike vipers, these snakes cannot fold their fangs out of the way when they are not being used. If the fangs were too long, a cobra would injure itself when it closed its mouth. That only thing would only happen in cartoons.
There are two main types of parasites fish are prone to be attacked by:
- 1. Ectoparasites – attack the external surface of the body and are visible to the naked eye.2. Endoparasites – affect the skin tissues and organs and are visible only under a microscope. How can you tell if your fish is affected by the Endoparasites? Well, they become sluggish.
All species of antelope have pointed, hollow horns that are permanent. Deer have branched antlers that they shed every year. Deer antlers are solid and bony. Only male deer grow antlers, while both male and female antelope have horns.
There are only two species of camels. They are the Bactrian and the Arabian camel. The Bactrian camel has two humps on its back, while the Arabian camel has one. The humps contain fat that provides the animal with nutrients when food is not available.
